3. Malaysians’ bumiputera-first policy debate takes on heady mix of health, education and politics
- A proposal to temporarily allow non-bumiputeras into Universiti Teknologi Mara (UiTM) has sparked debate over the New Economic Policy.
- The focus is on whether ethnic Chinese and Indian students should be admitted to UiTM's postgraduate cardiothoracic surgery program due to a shortage of specialists.
- The suggestion came from Raja Amin Raja Mokhtar, a UiTM professor and president of the Society of Thoracic Surgeons of Malaysia.

- Ms Sim, who is attending the event as Special Envoy of the Prime Minister, urged Russia to negotiate with Ukraine to seek a peaceful and lasting solution.
- Ms Sim told the summit: “Singapore’s presence today underscores our commitment to international law and the United Nations Charter.
- She added that the destruction of infrastructure and increasing death toll remains “deeply troubling”.
2. China to replace Australia's popular giant pandas
- Adelaide Zoo has been home to Wang Wang and Fu Ni since 2009 when they were loaned by China as part of a global preservation scheme that also serves as a tool of "panda diplomacy".
- Breeding panda cubs is a notoriously difficult task for the low-sexed creatures, and hopes of a pregnancy in Adelaide have been - repeatedly dashed.
- As one of the furry giants played with a strip of tree in the background, Li delivered the news that they will be going home.
3. Malaysians’ bumiputera-first policy debate takes on heady mix of health, education and politics
- The political heat generated over a proposal to temporarily allow non-bumiputeras into Universiti Teknologi Mara for the first time has spotlighted the New Economic Policy.
- Malaysians are debating whether ethnic Chinese and Indian students should be allowed to enrol in the postgraduate cardiothoracic surgery programme of UiTM as a stopgap measure resulted in some deaths.
- This was suggested by Raja Amin Raja Mokhtar, a professor from UiTM’s department of cardiovascular and thoracic surgery who is also president of the Society of Thoracic Surgeons of Malaysia.
